
Climate-Induced Displacement and Migration and Adaptation Strategies in South Asia: Some Observations

Abstract
In South Asia, the Climate-Induced Displacement and Migration denotes the forced movement of people due to the impacts of Climate Change, such as, extreme change in weather, sea-level rise, and continuous changing pattern of the rainfall which has direct and indirect impacts on the socio-economic, environmental and humanitarian implications. Thus, resulting loss of homes, livelihoods, structures of community, poverty, health issues, and conflicts. The region is relatively vulnerable to a variety of climate-related hazards. Currently, this region is at risk of millions of displacement and migration in the near future. To face the upcoming challenges, the Governments of South Asian countries have to incorporate upgraded national, regional, and international policies. The policies should be fair to all, implying the international laws and regulation. This paper examines the pattern of the climate displacement and Migration, and adaptation strategies in South Asia, overviewing the impacts, national policy responses with analysis, challenges, best practices, and recommendations for enhancing resilience and reducing vulnerability. The findings of the study determine the urgent need for the effective policies, international cooperation, and proper investments for providing sustainable development to address adverse impact of the climate-induced movement in South Asia.
