The Blue Economy Diplomacy of Bangladesh: Concepts, Contexts and Practices[1]
Md. Shariful Islam, PhD
AbstractThis article tries to conceptualize Blue Economy and Blue Economy Diplomacy in Bangladesh. It argues that the future of Bangladesh holds on the pursuit of BE objectives. In light of the increased BE challenges, i.e. piracy, IUU fishing, Bangladesh cannot ensure the proper utilization of BE potentials. In this context, Bangladesh needs cooperation from other states and non-state actors. Against this backdrop, there is no alternative but to pursue Blue Economy Diplomacy to increase opportunities in BE sectors and to mitigate conflicts arising around BE sectors. Thus, conceptualizing Blue Economy and Blue Economy Diplomacy merits serious attention.
Keywords: Blue Economy, Blue Economy Diplomacy, Bangladesh, Piracy, IUU fishing, Sustainability.
