Sino-Russian relations since turned into a ‘constructive partnership’ in 1996 which was transformed into a ‘strategic partnership’ and in 2001, they signed the ‘Treaty of Good-Neighborliness and Friendly Cooperation’, which was renewed in June 2021 for five more years. Their relation wasn’t this smooth during the Soviet era and there was a serious war possibility in 1960s, which ended up in a brief border war in 1969. The relation between the two great powers in the recent years, at the backdrop of the Sino-American hostility, Russo-US rivalry and the Ukrainian war has become what the West defined as a strategic alliance against the West..
